Job Overview In collaboration with the anesthesiologist/CRNA, the anesthesia technician will function as a member of the team to organize and administer individualized age specific care to patients in the surgical suite and across the perioperative division.
Qualifications Required: - Graduated from an accredited program in Anesthesia Technology, or a suitable combination of education and 2 years of experience.
- Maintenance of BLS Healthcare Provider Course completion status required.
- Successful completion of all orientation and departmental programs, and competencies with documentation required.
- Additional experience/training may be required based on departmental specific needs. Additional certifications may be required
Preferred Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable): - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt Positions) Essential Functions - The anesthesia technician will coordinate and provide technical support to the providers of anesthesia in the operating room.
- Assist with the educational development of learners within the anesthesia department.
- Assist with patient care, and maintain and ensure availability of supplies and equipment.
- Anticipates the anesthesia providers needs when a case deviates from the normal and is able to provide a smooth transition.
- Maintains and cleans equipment including cleaning and disinfection of TEE probes.
- Maintains and cleans anesthesia machines. Prepares and calibrates anesthesia machines prior to start of surgery.
- Stocks anesthesia carts and orders supplies as indicated.
- Assists the anesthesia provider during patient induction and intubation.
